Project Creative Brief
Sports Design

PURPOSE: The more I know about your organization, team, or athlete brand, the better I can deliver a design solution that connects with fans, sponsors, and your community. Don't assume I'll know your league, conference, or sport-specific terminology — elaborate where useful. Think through these questions carefully. Work commences upon receipt of a 50% deposit via paypal.me/anchorgrafx.
Background & Identity
01
Who Are You?
What is your team, organization, or athlete brand? Provide your full official name and any existing nickname or shorthand. What sport and at what level do you compete — pro, semi-pro, amateur, youth, collegiate? What league or governing body are you affiliated with? Do you currently have a tagline, or do you want one developed?
02
Your Objectives
What is driving this project right now? Are you launching a new brand, rebranding an existing one, expanding into new markets or platforms, preparing for a season launch, pursuing sponsorship, or something else? What are your immediate goals after the design is delivered?
03
Desired Results & Vision
How do you want fans, athletes, opponents, sponsors, and the media to perceive your brand? What feeling should your visual identity evoke — game-day energy, community pride, competitive edge? What does your brand need to communicate across all three?
Audience & Market
04
Target Market
Who is your primary audience? Describe your fanbase — age range, geography, income level, cultural background. Who attends your matches or games? Who follows you on social media? Are sponsors a key audience for this identity? How do you currently engage your audience, and how do you want to?
05
Competition
Who are your primary competitors — local rivals, teams in your league, or dominant brands in your sport at a national level? How does your brand differ from theirs, on and off the field? Are there teams whose identity and market positioning you respect, and why?
Design Direction
06
Success Criteria
How will you define a successful outcome for this project? More fan engagement? Increased sponsorship inquiries? Stronger merchandise sales? Cohesion across platforms? Be specific — what does "done well" look like to you?
07
Project Voice
What should your identity say about your organization? Should it feel aggressive and championship-caliber? Community-rooted and grassroots? Established and institutional? Modern and athletic? How should people emotionally react when they see your brand on a jersey, banner, or social post?
08
Color Preferences
Do you have existing team colors, or are they open for development? What is your favorite color and why? What color do you want to avoid, and why? Note any league or governing body restrictions on color usage.
09
Gauging Perception
Name a sports brand — team, league, or athlete — whose visual identity you genuinely admire and explain what you like about it. Then name one that is widely praised but that you personally don't connect with, and explain why.
10
Equity
Where do you want your organization to be in ten years? Championship contender? Regional institution? Feeder system to a professional league? Nationally recognized brand? How does your visual identity need to be built to grow with those ambitions?
